I grew up in a family full of very artistic people. As a child my mother would have us sit for hours all made up like Indians or in spiffy little dresses sipping tea being the models while she practiced her photography. So from a very young age my sisters and I were exposed, no pun intended, to cameras, lights, film and all the fun that goes along with it. Some time in the mid 80’s I got a wonderful Pentax 35mm camera with 2 lenses. Unfortunately I never had much time to use it. Most of the pictures taken were of my daughter in pretty little dresses. Jump forward to last year (2007) when my job was moved out of state and my hubby gave me a Pentax K10D :). My life changed, and I now had the time to learn and experiment. I know I am addicted and my k10D is an appendage, lol I have been very fortunate to have a good eye and no fear of most things, although snakes do not fall in this category (long story)! Somehow I am finding I see things a bit differently than others around me. I look for the picture within the picture and sometimes within that picture. I see colors and light and sometimes the object is not what the picture is about at all. Then there is this crazy passion for macro photography I should probably be treated for, lol. All the crazy perspective is blossoming now and I feel so very lucky to have had an impressionistic photo accepted for a special event at the Mercer Museum in Doylestown PA. The works in my portfolio & web site have not been manipulated with software to create them other than adjusting exposure and some cropping. Having a photo accepted to a museum is having one of my wildest most unbelievable dreams come true. I also currently shoot for Longwood Gardens Gift Shop and as of the 3rd week of April 08 now have a gallery that will permanently hang and sell my photos. I am so blessed that all of this is happening. I can’t begin to describe the excitement and how surreal all of this seems but dreams do come true! My Pentax K10D and me are very happy together, oops….guess I better add the hubby in here too :) after all, he did buy me this camera :) and I love him dearly!
