My formal education focused on "practical" studies like history and religion, which directly correlates with my real-life job as an IT Director. Informally, I've always been drawn to photography. Why? I'm not sure - perhaps it had something to do with all of the Polaroids my parents took when I was a kid. Regardless, not too long after graduating from college and with little to no money in my pocket, I scraped up enough cash to purchase a decent SLR and the bug took hold. I'm now the proud owner of the best camera in its class - the PENTAX K20D. Not constrained by the need (and costs) to develop film, I believe I'll be able to develop my skills and eye as a photographer faster than ever. There are so many amazing photographers in the world. I love looking at their pictures and learning to see things from different viewpoints; this is going to help me broaden and better define my own perspective and expression.
