Daniel Franco

Plymouth, Devon - United Kingdom

Daniel Franco is an aspiring young photographer who tries to balance knowledge, skill and intuition to capture his vision. There can be no underestimating the importance of all three in all walks of life to attain one's goals. As a son to parents of different nationalities, he has spent time living in both his parent's countries and travelled extensively during his early life. He has experienced different cultures and developed an open multicultural mindset. At the age of seven his grandfather gave him his first camera, a basic 'point and shoot' 35mm automatic. Restraint and patience were key; shooting with film meant a limited number of photos. The camera was enjoyed more as a toy at this age but gave some important experience. In his teens he often borrowed his father's Pentax SLR to take photographs. This was when he really started to develop his interest in photography. He started to read about technique, light, technology and equipment to build an understanding before getting a camera of his own. During his time at university he met his fiancée, Louise, and together their interest in photography flourished. At the same time the digital SLR market exploded with choice. Having inherited an Asahi Pentax S3 and Pentax Super A he was left with a fantastic set of old Pentax lenses. The Pentax system offered the chance to use these fine lenses with the new digital format. In June 2007 he received a Pentax K10D with which he shoots to this day, gaining valuable experience. Since 2008, when Lou also joined the Pentax family, they have been working together on their photography and will continue to do so into the future complementing each other with their range of shooting styles. The story is ongoing and so is the photography.
