My work reflects an ongoing voyage of discovery and creative exploration that examines evidence of intense spiritual devotion, past and present, within unique and distinctive cultures. The act of picture making adds immeasurably to my understanding of the world and the final photograph provides a reaffirmation of the connections between us all. Born, raised and educated in the San Francisco Bay Area, Richard Murai now teaches creative photography in California’s Northern Central Valley. His ongoing fascination with documenting sacred sites of the world has generated travel to locations within India, Peru, the Middle East, Russia, Asia, Western Europe and the United States. His work has appeared in major publications including Camera Arts, Photographers Forum, Lenswork and Shots.
