I'd like to tell some other than only bio of me so sorry that this text being below isn't following it what it should follow to..
First step for getting an Pentax DSLR came in Norway when I was at holiday with my family. There were lot of waterfalls and I was wondering how I’m able to take photos of those. In that holiday I couldn’t because having not any kind of a camera. When we arrived at home I took a look for photographingforums and asked that which DSLR I should get to (I told everything I was seen in Norway).
The answers were Nikon or Pentax. Of course I made a little check for Pentax’s and Nikon’s offical pages. First I gone to the Nikon’s page and I didn’t find anything really interesting DSLRs.
Then the next and last page I had to visit was Pentax’s page.
Found the K-7 (K-5 wasn’t been announced yet) and first thoughs were: “that’s wow, weather resistant and everything! Also not really big (camera) so the ergonomic would be perfect for me! Price is not bad etc.“
It interested me lots of but finally I decided to buy the Pentax k-x because I was at high school so I hadn’t money enough for K-7. And I wasnt ever been photographed before it so I wanted to exprience what the photographing would be etc.
In september 2010 I made an order and the K-x arrived at fifteenth Day of september. After photographing one year with K-x I bought the K-5. K-x is really good and for example every northern light photo being in my gallery was taken by K-x and its kitlens. Take a notice that you are able to get photos like I took with 500 euros! K-x + 18-55 kitlens does so well that next step to getting better photos of northern lights (in technical) would be the full frame body and really expensive lens..
K-x’s kitlens (DA L 18-55/3.5-5.6) is pretty good, better than any other brand’s kitlens (I have tested both Canons and Nikons). Sensor of the K-x is also really good so there are no problems when photographing in dark. As you can see the quality of those northern light photos are amazing (not noise, good dynamic etc).
Both cameras I’m currently using (K-x and K-5) does very well and especially the K-5 is amazing. Features of K-5 (fully weather resistant, perfect sensor, perfect AF (it works well to flying birds etc) and dynamical range etc) helps me lots of!
And DA 55-300/4-5.8 telelens is an amazing good lens and does not weight too much. It is really sharp yet in wide aperture within every mm’s.
The DA 55-300/4-5.8 and K-5 are just amazing pair and you can do almost everything you want to do with those. There are no problems to take landscape photos, bird photos, wildlife photos and sport photos with that pair (K-5 and DA 55-300/4-5.glasses. The K-5 also helped my dream for photographing birds in moonlight because of really good sensor and dynamic range.
If you are wondering which camera to buy I’d like to say you that the K-5 would be perfect to user like me: want to save northern lights and atmosphere of nights, taking good bird -and other nature photos, taking good sport photos, taking good landscape photos with excellent colours and dynamic range, taking photos when raining or snowing, taking excellent wildlife photos and everything other! You can do the all things that you would like to with the K-5.
Also K-x is so excellent that you can start photographing with it and continue photographing within K-x even ten years!
Thanks for Pentax which have been made so great and even so cheap cameras!
